Love these. I have a book coming out with Chronicle Books in October called ROMANCE THE EVERY DAY: A Year of Little Luxuries that you may also enjoy. It’s all about simple sweet pleasures in the every day. xo
I have read quite a few of these, and I have a book review for A Little Princess I will be publishing here soon. I’m reading The Wind in the Willows to my kids right now, and I’ve read the Secret Garden, Jane Eyre, Frog and Toad, The Hobbit, Anne of Green Gables and a lot of Thomas Hardy’s works as well. I have not finished The Little Prince (I have in in French), Braiding Sweetgrass (so close to being done!) and some of Mary Oliver’s work. Honestly I want to collect all of these!!
i love a little princess and now i am looking forward to reading your review! 🩷✨ you have great taste if i do say so myself haha.
these childhood classics just have so much magic in them. i have a 5 year old brother and it's so exciting to share these with him too and revisit them through adult eyes.
i love all your recommendations, they truly feel like books that would make me appreciate the simplicity of life. there is one essay anthology/memoir that i would take the liberty of leaving as a suggestion: little weirds by jenny slate (if you have not had the chance to read it yet). a book that made me embrace myself a little more, openly, arms wide.
i haven't had the chance to read little weirds yet, but i always come across excerpts of it and i just know i would adore it! ❤️🩹 i absolutely need to bump it up on my tbr. tysm for your suggestion!
I love Letters to a Young Poet. read it for the first time on my birthday this year. What a gift! The Hobbit is my favorite Tolkien book. so atmospheric!
letters to a young poet is such a treasure! read it for the first time in high school and i always think about it.
and yeah the atmosphere of the hobbit is so immersive. i relate to bilbo on a deeply personal level lol – i love all the adventure but also just want to hide in a cozy hobbit hole and drink tea!!
